Gordon College students explore an array of academic disciplines while delving deep into their major areas of interest, yet learning should never be seen as solely beneficial or without associated obligations.
That is why you will be challenged to live virtuously with integrity and seek service opportunities that allow for personal development. Additionally, you'll learn to submit to God's sovereign rule in every aspect of life.
Faith & Learning
Gordon College students excel in an ever-evolving world by balancing career-focused academics with life-giving faith communities, so that they are equipped to lead and make a difference with hope and confidence. A liberal arts education grounded in Christian faith equips them for any future career paths as well as life-long learning and service opportunities.
Through their studies, students come to appreciate God's handiwork in this world as expressed through nature, scripture, and the work of the Spirit; ultimately all culminating in Jesus Christ himself. Within this community setting, students strive to connect with Jesus Christ directly as they submit themselves to his kingly authority in every aspect of their lives.
Students build relationships at Gordon through an array of internships and research opportunities, from studying abroad in places like London, Italy, or Croatia to working with community organizations in Boston or Essex County and apprenticing with faculty mentors. Gordon's small class sizes and expert teachers assist them in exploring their interests, finding their niche, and honing their skills.
Many of these relationships continue to flourish long after graduation. Graduates have gone on to attend top grad schools and join organizations such as Apple, NPR, the New England Patriots, and World Vision.
Gordon College boasts an expansive program to support its mission of serving churches and local communities by offering ministry certificates, leadership training courses, research on religious institutions, and various other programs. Furthermore, Gordon hosts national conferences as well as offering travel opportunities to its students.
Gordon University has made great efforts to bring its students and passions together, yet one issue has proven challenging: sexuality. Gordon's approach has contributed to an increasingly tense campus atmosphere. And with enrollment falling off drastically over recent years, Gordon now faces an existential threat that threatens its future if enrollment does not rebound soon enough. There have been multiple reasons cited for its budget shortfall and student attrition issues, one being its position on sexuality.

Community & Identity
Gordon College welcomes students from around the globe, and its campus community honors diverse cultures. Gordon is dedicated to creating an environment of opportunity and leadership development that equips graduates "faithfully in leadership and service for the common good," per its mission statement.
Students studying the world through an approach known as liberal arts engage with questions that matter most to them as part of an education model that values both breadth and depth of study in each field of knowledge. At the same time, the College supports a Christian framework of inquiry that affirms higher forms of learning while exploring fundamental moral and ontological questions of life.
Gordon College welcomes students from a diverse global community of believers from different spiritual traditions and faith communities and seeks to provide a safe space where individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives can explore their world from a Christian lens. Gordon recognizes that some students may face various obstacles as they pursue their educational goals; therefore it offers support services to assist their success.
Multicultural Initiatives Office (MIO) strives to support holistically the College's diverse student body by working alongside student groups to offer spiritual, personal, academic, cultural, and social support - ultimately striving for equity of God's creation. Other student-run groups on campus such as ASIA, ALANA, and La Raza allow students to experience, examine, and increase awareness of Asian heritage via monthly events.
Gordon College also provides various seminars taught by professors, faculty, and staff members of its community aimed at enriching students' academic experience while equipping them with skills they will need for success in their professional lives.
The Core Curriculum
Gordon College stands as one of the nation's premier Christian liberal arts colleges, located just north of Boston. Our students benefit from cutting-edge opportunities for intellectual, professional and leadership development that align with an informed Christian perspective.
At our college, our mission is to graduate individuals renowned for intellectual rigor and Christian character who are ready for leadership worldwide. Our curriculum equips you with all of the skills and experiences required for this journey - challenging you to think deeply, dialogue across disciplines and cultures, take action toward the and greater good, as outlined in our Goals for Learners document and student learning outcomes for major programs of study.
Gordon's Core Curriculum serves as the cornerstone for your academic experience at Gordon. You'll explore various topics, questions, and perspectives essential to developing a Christian worldview and seeking peace in our diverse society. Explorations span fine arts, humanities, and natural sciences and are guided by two guiding questions and principles:
Your process of learning will teach you to question, analyze, and compare different points of view; furthermore, it will allow you to develop your own ideas and voice through written expression. Furthermore, you will gain a deeper appreciation for major traditions within English literature that represent different voices (some marginalized by those traditions).
Your goal will be to gain an appreciation of how history is written within its larger historical context, including how your faith and worldview influence historical analysis. You will learn to read primary and secondary historical texts critically as well as critically reading research papers written by classmates or instructors.
As part of your service-learning courses and The Great Conversation's Global Honors and Clarendon sections, you will have the chance to interact and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a meaningful community project. In these courses, an in-depth conversation among select cohorts of students provides the backdrop for working toward this end.
