Invada

This exhibition marks the launch of Worcester Art Museum's Central Massachusetts Artist Initiative (CMAI), an expansion of their ongoing commitment to the Central Massachusetts art community. Established in December 2017 and set for implementation each year thereafter, this initiative gives two artists chosen by curators an opportunity to exhibit a solo installation in Sidney & Rosalie Rose Gallery for one month each year of this initiative.

Rachelle Beaudoin uses video, wearables, and performance art to explore feminist identity within popular culture. For her CMAI rotation, she presents videos examining society's preconceptions regarding motherhood that draw on both her personal experiences and observations.

Randy LeSage is a painter and printmaker who successfully balances his artistic practice with educational work. At CMAI Rotation his four-part Departure series demonstrates this balance. Utilizing relief block ink technology he explores markers of industry and urban architecture throughout his career-long interest in them.

Cesar Rodrigues, an abstract painter based in Worcester, responds to the material properties of acrylic paint - color, texture, gravity, and viscosity - in his artworks.
